Kristopher Gasch to speak at our Last Reconciling Event

Kristopher Gasch, along with his husband Shane Burkart, are residents of Port Edwards. Kristopher is a graduate of John Edwards High School and received his bachelor’s degree from Edgewood College in Madison, where he studied business administration and music with an emphasis in piano performance and choral conducting. He is Director of Marketing at Fey Printing, representing the 3rd generation in his family business, and is also currently in his 15th year as Principal Organist and Director of Music at the Episcopal Church of St. John the Evangelist in Rapids. He also serves as Board Chair at Incourage Community Foundation since 2015.
Kristopher and Shane are celebrating 15 years together, and 5 years of marriage, this year. Kris grew up as a lifelong member of a local Wisconsin Synod Lutheran Church (WELS) but was formally excommunicated in April of 2016 after announcing their wedding plans. What pursued was a rough year-long ex-communication process. While navigating that process alongside his weekly presence at the Episcopal Church, informed, for him, a journey of rediscovering faith, reframing the vision of what a faith community can (and should) do, and what it means to live Christian values.
Kristopher and Shane will be with us on Sunday, June 12th, as they present to our congregation during the Sunday morning worship service at 10:00 am. They will be sharing their personal stories about being LGBTQ in both affirming and non-affirming congregations and denominations. Following the worship service, you are invited to come up to the Fellowship Hall for Second Sunday refreshments and some social time with Kristopher and Shane.
